What do you think of the quality of road maintenance in Medford?
I know Medford owns a tractor that cuts the grass on the side of the road... but some roads are never attended to. To be fair, many neighborhoods have mailboxes, fences, driveway curbing, and other landscaping that would make this difficult.
A pet peeve of mine is how we put salt and sand on the roads, but we don't sweep it up after the snow melts. When the leaves fall, there are many roads that get covered with leaves (back roads that don't get much traffic to blow the leaves off the road). This can be hazardous... wet or dry, leaves reduce traction.
Another issue is weeds growing in the median strip at Taunton and Tuckerton. Along with all the cigarette butts, this intersection often looks like a slum. The weeds could be wacked, or burned out with a flame weeder. It would be great if the cracks between the asphalt and concrete could be sealed with hot asphalt to prevent weeds from growing.
OK... I understand that we have limited resources (public works department employees), and a limited budget. But we should be able to find a way to keep Medford looking nice.
What do you think?
