High School Athletics in New Jersey are organized and overseen by the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association.  North Jersey and South Jersey have separate groups and leagues.  Some sports have a state championship, but for football, the north and south jersey champions do not compete for an overall state championship (what a bummer, eh?).  For high school football, schools are divided into 4 groups, based on the size of the school.  Shawnee (despite losing 900 students to Seneca) is classified as a Group IV school.
